Views of Singapore from the "bow of the ship"

Over the Easter weekend I managed to cross 2 things off of my "to do" list for Singapore.  I wandered along Orchard Road "shopping".  Actually it was mostly looking.  This is some of the most expensive real estate in Singapore and to go along with it some of the most expensive stores. I didn't actually see anyone buying much, but lots of people looking.  It makes you wonder how these stores stay open.

On Monday I played tour guide for a colleague from home - we went to the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, went on the Singapore River Cruise and had lunch at Boat Quay.  I've posted pictures of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel in previous postings - it has to be the most amazing building.
Marina Bay Sands Hotel
You can take an elevator to the 56th floor of the tower at the bow end of the ship which is the observation deck and the Sky Bar.  You can't go to the Sky Garden unless you sign up for tours that take place 3 times a day (we decided not to way until 2pm to do this).  Great views of Singapore.
Marina Bay
Outdoor Stadium - grass field on the barge
Expressway (all of them have 3 letter acronyms here) - this one is the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE)
View of the Fullerton Hotel and Boat Quay behind it.  Anything in front of this, including the land where the hotel is built on is actually reclaimed land.
It's a little hard to see, but that's the infinity pool in the Sky Garden area.  Guests can use the pool - only $700 per night!
The busy port area
Views toward the East Coast
The Singapore Flyer and the F1 pit area - Singapore F1 race runs in September and is one of only 2 night races on the F1 circuit
So what's left on my list:
  • Shopping on Orchard Road  - done, no purchases!
  • Visit the Orchid Gardens
  • Go to the top of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel - done, can't afford to stay
  • Visit the Singapore Zoo
  • Visit Changi Village
  • Go to the Asian Civilization Museum
  • Visit St Andew's Cathedral
  • Visit Garden by the Bay
  • Pick up souvenirs
  • Look for a Samsung Galaxy Note (still haven't decided, but am close to thinking I need (well more like I want) one - getting closer, actually looked at them tonight :)

Thanks for stopping by....
